Urgent Call for Donation
- Great Tohoku Japan Earthquake -

Around 2:46 p.m. on Friday 11th March 2011, an earthquake of unprecedented magnitude struck Eastern Japan. This M9.0 quake originating off the Sanriku coast in the Tohoku area, the largest ever recorded in Japan, has caused unimaginable damage. Due to the great tsunami and fires, the secondary effects of this massive seismic activity, there has been immense destruction on a wide scale. In addition, residents in the area around Fukushima Daiichi and Daini Nuclear Power Plants have been evacuated or ordered to stay indoors.

We are truly grateful for the messages of support and compassion for the damage caused by the Great Tohoku Japan Earthquake from national dental societies and others from around the world.

Given the horrible events of the past week, the Japan Dental Association would like to aid the victims of the Great Tohoku Japan Earthquake by making an urgent call for donations.

We are accepting donations through bank transfer (see below), in hope of facilitating the recovery process in the devastated areas. The funds collected will be delivered to dental associations in those areas, so that they may support members who have been impacted by the disaster, and assist in the rebuilding and recovery of the entire region. Your help in this effort would be greatly appreciated.

The entire membership of the Japan Dental Association will do its utmost to overcome the extreme adversities that await us in the days ahead.
